Emirates ticket scam does the rounds

Consumers are being tricked into giving away their personal details by an advert that is claiming to offer two free tickets from Emirates airways. People are sharing the links to the fake offer via WhatsApp, SMS and on social media. The message says: “2 Free Tickets from Emirates. They are giving free tickets for a limited time in order to celebrate their birthday. I claimed one also.”

But an Emirates spokesperson told Justmoney: “Emirates is aware of fraudulent emails and SMS/WhatsApp messages purporting to come from us that contain links to a website claiming to offer free airline tickets to those who participate in an on-line survey. We advise anyone who receives this message not to click on any links or to forward the message."

Earlier this year, the scam did the rounds through a fake Emirates Facebook page. According to one website, Hoax Slayer, the aim of the scam is to accumulate as many Facebook likes as possible for the bogus Facebook Page and trick people into submitting their personal information on dodgy third-party prize sites.
