Yesterday saw the issuing of a public warning from Eskom about a recruitment scam doing the rounds, where a group of fraudsters are pretending to be Eskom recruiters.
They lure people by offering them jobs within the company and in the process, solicit R1 500 in order to “secure employment,” said Eskom.
Post payment these ‘recruiters’ then proceed to direct the potential employees to the main entrance or reception desk at an Eskom office, only for the person to find that there is no vacancy and the recruiter has disappeared with their money.
Eskom urges the public to avoid engaging with any person claiming to be an Eskom recruiter, especially if he/she insists on payment in order to secure the potential job.
“Members of the public are reminded that all employment opportunities available from Eskom would be advertised on its own website www.eskom.co.za and that Eskom would never ask for payment,” highlighted Eskom.
To report any incidents of irregularity involving the company, members of the general public should call Eskom’s toll free number on 0800 11 27 22 or email investigate@eskom.co.za.
