Commuters are set for another fuel price increase today, the Department of Energy (DoE) announced over the weekend. Unleaded petrol prices are to increase by between eight and 11 cents, and diesel between 41 and 42 cents. The price of illuminating paraffin and LPGas are also set to increase.
The DoE explained the reason for the fuel hike. “The main reasons for the fuel price adjustments in July 2016 are (a) the strengthening of the Rand against the US Dollar during the period under review which cushioned the fuel prices by over 17.00c/l, (b) the slight increase on average in the prices of petroleum products in the international markets, and (c) an increase in the prices crude oil, on average, during the period under review mainly due supply disruptions in Canada, Venezuela, Libya, Nigeria and Iraq.
The price increases are as follows:
“In other fuel pricing zones, the prices will be different due to the adjustment to the transportation costs,” added the DoE.
