New Product: SMS notification from Nedbank

Nedbank has a new product: SMS notification that informs you of any transactional activity on your current or savings account. And while SMS notification might not be a new thing for many of us, it is nice to see that more banks are offering this service. Are you a Nedbank customer and would like to add this service to your account?

It's easy:

•  Go to the eNotes page on the Nedbank website 
• Fill in your cellphone number and the accounts that you would like eNote to link to.
• Submit your form

 At Justmoney, we feel this sort of technology should really become free across all the major banks - FNB still remains the only bank to offer free SMS notification to all their account holders - Nedbank has opted to charge you a fee for the service, albeit a fairly small one.

eNotes will cost you R12 per month if you have a current or savings account, R7 per month on Transactor and only R2 per month if you have a Mzanzi account, thereby keeping to the low cost goal that is Mzanzi.
Compare that to ABSA's NotifyMe which is free on a fee management package, otherwise R0.48 per notification, while as Standardbank's service will cost you R17 per month.

What are the benefits of eNotes? In addition to receiving updates on all till-point transactions, deposits, ATM cash withdrawals, scheduled payments, third party payments and airtime top-ups, you will also receive service notices to keep you on top of your account and your money.

If you have problems with over spending, or you have an account where you need to maintain a certain balance, you can set the balance on your account, and you will receive a notification once you have reached it. Card and cheque management is also taken care of as you will receive notification once a new card or chequebook has been ordered, delivered and collected, and with phishing and identity theft being a big problem in South Africa, it is reassuring to know that you will receive notification on any changes to your contact details.

While this service is not free, it won't break your budget either.
